At COP24 in Katowice, Poland from 2-14 December there will be several events focused on long-term strategies:

Long-Term Strategy as an Opportunity for Raising Ambition on Indonesia’s NDC

When: 4 Dec, 13:00-14:30
Where: Indonesia Pavilion
Who: WRI Indonesia, WRI Climate, 2050 Pathways Platform
Representatives from Indonesia and international partners will identify key elements in the institutional landscape that are critical for an effective long-term strategy and challenges to aligning near and medium term NDCs with long-term goals.


France’s Revised National Low Carbon Strategy: An Ecological and Inclusive Transition Toward Carbon Neutrality

Following the publication of its climate plan in July 2017, France has undertaken an intense consultation and modeling process in order to revise its National Low Carbon Strategy. This event will present the content of the revised strategy and share views on opportunities and challenges of elaborating long-term strategies.


2050 Strategies – Planning Towards a Resilient and Prosperous Future

Exploration by Business of National Carbon Neutral Pathways

France has committed to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. EpE members carried out a study to propose a full picture of the economy and society compatible with this target; it covers all economic sectors and includes a sociological approach, trajectories and short-term conditions for success.


Long-Term Strategies in Pacific Countries

NCE-OECD Joint Event on Climate and Growth

This event will highlight key findings of 2018 reports from NCE and OECD, focused on the macroeconomic aspects of low-carbon development, just transition, and financial sustainability.


Raising Ambition Through Long-Term Strategies

This event will profile how long-term strategies are critical for providing a clear signal to the world that limiting warming to well below 2C is achievable, and that all countries are committed to doing it.


Launch of Fiji’s Low Emissions Development Strategy

Who: Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama

Fiji will become the 11th country to officially table its long-term strategy with the UNFCCC. Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama will launch the strategy at this event.
